Why Does SmartWeight® Provide a Better Balance – Understanding SmartWeight®
The proliferation of much larger, wider tape-weight only style wheels poses problems for traditional dynamic balancing. Traditional balancers place equal emphasis on single plane/static (hop) and dual plane/dynamic (wobble) forces. However, modern cars are roughly four times more sensitive to hop forces than wobble forces. SmartWeight® provides a better balance by focusing on the hop forces that are most likely to be felt by the driver while always keeping the wobble forces in check.
Why Do We Balance Wheels – Understanding Road Force
We balance wheels to cancel out the uncomfortable vibration that can be felt when an unbalanced wheel is traveling at speed. However, imbalance is not the only cause of wheel and tyre induced vibration. A vehicle may have four perfectly balanced wheels and still experience vibration due to Road Force, or the change in force acting on a wheel assembly as it rolls.
